National conversations are occurring with the AAMC (representing ERAS), the NRMP, and the Urology and Ophthalmology Match programs about timing of the application process and the various Matches. We will follow all of these organizations closely and update with any changes.

Matching Bodies (NRMP, SF, AUA)

NRMP
Match Week and SOAP for the 2021 Main Match will remain as scheduled for March 15-18, with Match Day occurring on March 19, 2021. However, in response to national discussions about the implications of the novel coronavirus on transitions among students to graduate medical education, the NRMP has decided to implement schedule changes to the Rank Order List (ROL) Open and Certification Deadline dates for the 2021 Main Residency Match.

The Rank Order List (ROL) Open, when applicants and programs can begin entering their ROLs, will move to February 1, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and the ROL Certification Deadline, when applicants and programs must finalize and certify their ROLs for use when the matching algorithm is processed, will move to March 3, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

SF Match (Ophthalmology)
The SF Match timeline for the 2020-2021 ophthalmology match has been altered. See their calendar for details. Students can begin registering Wednesday, July 1 with a target deadline date of Tuesday, September 15 to apply to all programs. New rank list submission date is January 25, 2021 with match results released February 1, 2021

AUA Match (Urology)
The AUA Match timeline for the 2020-2021 Urology match has been altered. See their calendar for details. Students can begin registering for the AUA Match on June 24th and via ERAS may begin applying to programs September 1 with programs being able to access student applications beginning October 21. The new rank list submission deadline is January 12, 2021 and match results will be released February 1, 2021.

AAMC and ERAS

ERAS has determined that on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, residency programs will gain access to applications and MSPEs will be released to residency programs (these are updated from the traditional dates of September 15 and October 1 respectively). These date changes are reflected on the ERAS 2021 Residency Application Timeline

Class 2021 Residency Workshop

The Class of 2021 workshop, originally scheduled for late March has been turned into a recorded virtual workshop. All the sessions that were scheduled to previously be brought to you live, including student and director panels, have been recorded and will soon be delivered to your class. All recordings and related assets, plus links to guides and data can be found on your classes Residency Match Information Page. Please also review your classes first Information Exchange. This is the first in a weekly series that is designed to provide you with resources and keep you on track as we move through the residency match process. This first Exchange lists a lot of action steps to begin doing now as we begin the year long process. Please also begin reviewing the Class of 2021 Residency Application Guide. We will host further in-person sessions during your BaDr III Intersession week at the end of August and all students should feel free to make personal appointments with their Faculty Advisor and Maija Braaten, Residency Match Coordinator to learn more about the process of applying for residency and the match.
